MARCI CORNELL-FEIST

FOUNDER AND CEO

Marci Cornell-Feist is a national expert on charter school governance. She has worked with over 500 charter schools nationwide to improve their effectiveness—more than anyone else on the planet. She founded her charter school consultancy Meetinghouse Solutions in 2001, and has focused on charter school governance since the mid 1990s. She created BoardOnTrack to implement the most effective strategies and practices of her many clients, and as a means of spreading this information to a wider audience of charter schools.

Marci is author of the book Board Meetings: A Guide for Charter Schools and Board Structure: A Guide to Bylaws, Officers, Committees, Responsibilities and More for Exceptional Charter Schools.

Marci is also a co-founder of The Achievement Network, which helps schools use data-driven strategies to raise student achievement.

Earlier in her career, Marci worked throughout the nonprofit sector, including positions as a senior staffer at the Massachusetts Charter School Resource Center, Northwest Regional Director for the Student Conservation Association, Deputy Director of the Consortium/UNHCR refugee resettlement program in Lao P.D.R., and Peace Corps Volunteer in Thailand. Marci is a graduate of the Harvard Graduate School of Education and Bowdoin College.

About Rick

RICHARD THOMAS JR.

CHIEF SOFTWARE ARCHITECT AND FOUNDER

Rick is a software engineer with over thirty years of expertise developing top-rated, enterprise-quality products. We’re fortunate that he wrangles BoardOnTrack code into submission with particular mission flair, as he is the proud parent of a charter school student. Rick always codes with the valiant school staff and board members in mind.

Prior to joining BoardOnTrack, Rick worked at Oracle Inc. in the Health Sciences Global Business Unit, designing and developing the Clinical Development Center system. In addition, Rick was a principal software engineer at Incipient Inc. and helped create the architecture, design, and development of a cutting edge, highly scalable, interactive Web 2.0 storage virtualization management application. He holds a BS in Computer Engineering from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.

About Mike

MIKE MIZZONI

CHIEF GOVERNANCE OFFICER

Mike brings a wealth of experience to his role as BoardOnTrack’s Chief Governance Officer. Prior to joining the BoardOnTrack team 5 years ago, Mike worked for the Massachusetts Department of Higher Education, where he served as the Director of Trustee and Community Relations and formerly as Deputy General Counsel. Mike began his career as a Legislative Aide at the Massachusetts State House while attending law school full-time. In addition to his professional experience, Mike volunteers for a variety of organizations. He has served as the Vice-Chair of the Town of Littleton School Committee, on the Board of Directors of the Freedom Summer Collegiate, an education non-profit that he co-founded, and as an active member of the UMass Lowell Young Alumni Council.

Mike currently lives in Littleton, Massachusetts and is a proud graduate of both the University of Massachusetts Lowell and New England Law Boston. While not working, Mike enjoys playing soccer, volleyball, traveling, and spending time outside with his French Bulldog, Charlie!

Gina Fafard

Gina brings over 20 years of educational leadership experience to BoardOnTrack, having served students and families in both large urban and small suburban districts. Gina taps into her broad range of experience, from being a classroom teacher to Charter School CEO, to provide governance coaching that is both practical and attainable. She is a believer that the key to success in growing a healthy and vibrant school or network of schools starts with its leadership.  Gina helped pioneer the role of governance coach at BoardOnTrack and has twice been a BoardOnTrack Member – once serving as a CEO of a CT Charter School, and the second time in Florida.

Gina holds an EdS degree, a MS degree in Ed Leadership, and BA degree in Art.  When she’s not coaching school boards, she enjoys everything outdoors, including camping, fishing, kayaking, and cycling.

BRIANNA STUCZYNSKI

Brianna is a graduate of Long Island University’s Global College, a program that allowed her to study in 12 different countries. This has prepared her with the ability to excitedly connect with people from every background and quickly think on her feet, no matter what bump in the road they may come upon.

This experience has also instilled in her a passion for great education, as a human right. Before joining BoardOnTrack, Brianna worked for the New York City-based education equity nonprofit, Student Leadership Network, where she gained experience supporting and managing their Board of Directors. She also comes with experience in customer service from the Brooklyn-based jewelry company, Bird + Stone, whose mission is to partner with and give back to local nonprofits.

Born and raised in Massachusetts, she loves to hike, play with dogs, bake and travel.

Joe Finelli

Joe’s professional experience spans both software and education. He has spent over a decade helping small software firms grow and succeed, including those in the education, event ticketing, and data analytics spaces. Before joining BoardOnTrack, he helped to open a small private school in Rhode Island.

Joe is a former teacher and high school administrator at the Field School in Washington DC, and remains active in school life by coaching tennis at Buckingham, Browne, and Nichols school in Cambridge, MA each spring. He is a graduate of Harvard College and the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth.

When not working or coaching, Joe can be found running, in Maine, at Fenway, or continuing his search for the best milkshake in the city.

As a Membership Advisor, Nick is excited to be bringing his passion for data to transform public education to one of the vital areas – the governance of our nation’s public schools.

When not working, Nick can be found frequenting the Wrigley Field bleachers or supporting local restaurants throughout the city of Chicago.
